Basketball Recap: Addison Jones' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wray over Platte Valley

On Tuesday, the Wray Eagles ended up a good deal behind the Platte Valley Broncos and lost 54-40.

Wray's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addison Jones, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 14 points. Jones also posted a block, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Eryn Bledsoe, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Wray smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Lauryn Uyemura was her usual excellent self, putting up 18 points and eight steals for Platte Valley. Uyemura is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 29 games she's played dating back to last season. Mia Koffler was another key player, posting 12 points and six boards.

Wray's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Platte Valley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wray will host Highland at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Highland will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Wray surely won't give up without a fight. As for Platte Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wiggins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wiggins has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
