Baseball Recap: Northfield's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Northfield had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Vista PEAK Prep Bison. This was payback for the Nighthawks, who suffered a 5-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Mason Brennan was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eli Jackson, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Cameron Mejak was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Northfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive contests.

Northfield's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Vista PEAK Prep, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northfield will head out to square off against Summit at 3:00 p.m. on April 1. As for Vista PEAK Prep, they will venture away from home to take on Skyview at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vista PEAK Prep is facing Skyview at the right time seeing as Skyview is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
