Softball Recap: Cherokee Now 7-2 over Last Nine Games

Cherokee won the last time they faced Seneca and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Chiefs came out on top against the Golden Eagles by a score of 5-1. That's two games straight that the Chiefs have won by exactly four runs.

Allison Cunane spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Luci Dandrea, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Edwards, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Cherokee has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Seneca, they dropped their record down to 2-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cherokee will welcome Lenape at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Seneca, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Moorestown at 3:45 p.m.
