Basketball Recap: Pocomoke's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Pocomoke had lost three straight headed into Saturday's contest, but MICHAEL AMES didn't let it get to four. The Pocomoke Warriors came out on top in a nail-biter against the Polytech Panthers on Saturday, sneaking past 67-64 thanks in part to AMES, who went 7 of 16 on his way to 20 points and five rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played.

Another player making a difference was LAMARQUIS DOUGLAS, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rebounds.

Pocomoke's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Polytech, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pocomoke will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mardela at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Polytech will also get a bit of a break before their next matchup: they'll face off against Milford at 6:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
