Chase Gieszler Delivers Best Performance of Season
Verrado was led to victory by Chase Gieszler, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Gieszler threw for 286 yards and four touchdowns on perfect 9-for-9 passing, and also rushed for 49 yards and a touchdown.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Verrado, bringing their record for this year to 4-1. Gieszler and Verrado are on the road again on Thursday to play Marcos de Niza at 7:00 p.m.

Jack Isidore Crosses Big Stat Threshold
Keeping Gieszler company is Jack Isidore, a fellow Verrado player. He rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, and also picked up 43 receiving yards and a touchdown. He's now once again averaging 100+ rushing yards (100.4) per game. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 65 yards.

Canyon View came up short on Friday despite Gavin Levin delivering his best game to date. Levin and Canyon View will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Millennium at 7:00 p.m. on October 18th. David Cabrera produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Desert Edge to the win on Friday. Cabrera picked up 188 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He has become a key player for Desert Edge: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 100 receiving yards, but 1-2 otherwise.
The win got Desert Edge back to even at 3-3. Cabrera and Desert Edge will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Sunrise Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on October 18th.
