Softball Game Preview: Grissom Tigers vs. Falkville Blue Devils

The Grissom Tigers will challenge the Falkville Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Falkville took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Grissom, who comes in off a win.

Grissom barely beat James Clemens the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Grissom put the hurt on James Clemens with a sharp 10-3 victory on Thursday. Considering the Tigers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, Falkville was not able to break out of their rough patch last Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Decatur Heritage Christian Academy.

Hannah Summerford was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Melody Sims, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Summerford wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Falkville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for Falkville: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.8.

Grissom's win bumped their record up to 14-8. As for Falkville, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-9.

Everything went Grissom's way against Falkville in their previous meeting on March 3rd, as Grissom made off with a 19-3 victory. Will Grissom repeat their success, or does Falkville has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
