Progreso entered their tilt with Santa Rosa on Saturday with four consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with five. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Santa Rosa Warriors. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 9-8 win last Thursday.

Roel Mercado looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

On the hitting side, Nathen De Los Santos and Ismael Estrada did most of the damage at the plate: De Los Santos scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-1, while Estrada went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Joel Estrada, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Progreso's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Santa Rosa, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Progreso will challenge Lasara at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Rosa will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Raymondville at 6:00 p.m. on March 21st.
