Basketball Recap: Northwestern Piles Up the Points Against Southwest

Northwestern had to endure a five-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They took their contest on Monday with ease, bagging a 64-32 victory over the Southwest Wildcats. Considering the Eagles' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gavin Farris, who posted 13 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Hagen Stedem, who earned two points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks.

Northwestern's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Southwest, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Northwestern will be playing in front of their home fans against Meadville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meadville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.6 points per game this season. Southwest has already played their next game, a 62-50 victory against Keytesville on the 21st.
