2A District 4 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Bardstown extended the longest winning streak in 2A District 4 this week by beating Shawnee, 51-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Christian Academy made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,960 from 6,836. The improvement was the result of 27-3 victory over Washington County last week.
DeSales's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Nathan Roush threw for 90 and three touchdowns and Austin Graig had 35 yards receiving. On the ground Dylan Byrd chipped in 152 yards. Frankie Tharp helped DeSales' passing attack out by catching one ball for 25 yards.
DeSales' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Colts feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Roush has thrown for 457 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Byrd has six catches for 148 yards. Byrd leads the league in rushing with 566 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Colts take on the Commanders. DeSales' offense has recorded 195 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Washington County has permitted only 194 on the year.
A big matchup in 2A District 4 this week will be when Bardstown takes on Fort Knox. David Clark's team is currently in first, while the Eagles are in fourth.
The Tigers led the league in scoring this week after putting up 51 points on the Golden Eagles.
