Softball Recap: Marcellus' Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

Marcellus and Solvay squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Marcellus had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Bearcats by a score of 2-1. The Mustangs' loss signaled the end of their 16-game winning streak.

Kendall LaManche spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Marcellus saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Millie Novitsky, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 17-3. As for Solvay, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-7.

As of now, neither Marcellus nor the Bearcats have any future games scheduled.
