Basketball Recap: University School Comes Up Short

University School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat. They fell 49-40 to the Washburn Pirates. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-21 back in December of 2024.

Washburn's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hannah Williams, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten boards. The contest was Williams' sixth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Taylie Proffitt, who posted 16 points and four steals.

University School's loss dropped their record down to 1-22. As for Washburn, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-8.

Coming up, University School is taking a road trip to face off against Cloudland at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Washburn, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Unaka at 6:30 p.m.
