Baseball Game Preview: Chaminade Eagles vs. Loyola Cubs

The Chaminade Eagles will face off against the Loyola Cubs at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are out to turn their luck around after having lost tight contests in their previous games.

Chaminade is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Wednesday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Harvard-Westlake. Eagles fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Wolverines since on Wednesday.

Chaminade got a good showing from Adam Batmanian, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Batmanian has allowed since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, Chaminade saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Costa, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Loyola entered their match against Crespi on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Loyola fell just short of Crespi by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cubs have suffered since April 19, 2024.

Chaminade's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Loyola, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-4.

Chaminade beat Loyola 5-0 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Does Chaminade have another victory up their sleeve, or will Loyola turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
