Basketball Recap: Beddingfield Takes a Loss

Beddingfield lost against Fike two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Beddingfield Bruins lost to the Fike Demons on the road by a 75-58 margin. While losing is never fun, the Bruins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 338th, while the Demons are ranked 96th).

Fike got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayonta Blanchard out in front who went 8 of 9 on his way to 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of William Monk, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Beddingfield and nudges their season record down to 3-6. As for Fike, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Beddingfield will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Nash Central at 7:15 p.m. on January 8, 2025. As for Fike, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hunt at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Fike's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
