Basketball Game Preview: Middletown Cavaliers vs. Appoquinimink Jaguars

The Middletown Cavaliers will face off against the Appoquinimink Jaguars at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Middletown came up short against St. Georges Tech on Tuesday, falling 67-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Cavaliers have suffered against the Hawks since December 13, 2016.

Meanwhile, Appoquinimink faced Mount Pleasant in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Appoquinimink enjoyed a cozy 47-33 win over Mount Pleasant. The victory was familiar territory for the Jaguars who have now won six matchups in a row.

Appoquinimink pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points per game. As for Middletown, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Middletown was able to grind out a solid victory over Appoquinimink when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 98-87. Does Middletown have another victory up their sleeve, or will Appoquinimink turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
