Football Game Preview: East St. Louis Flyers vs. Simeon Wolverines + Official Tickets

The East St. Louis Flyers will challenge the Simeon Wolverines at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

East St. Louis is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 53-14 victory over Glenwood. The Flyers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by 39 points or more this season.

Myson Johnson-Cook continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 251 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Those 251 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reece Shanklin, who rushed for 58 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: East St. Louis was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 556 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Simeon strolled past Normal West with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 36-21. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolverines.

East St. Louis' win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Simeon, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.

East St. Louis was able to grind out a solid win over Simeon in their previous matchup back in August of 2015, winning 28-21. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Wolverines' Malik Holcomb, who picked up 81 receiving yards and two scores. Now that he won't be playing on Saturday, will it be easier for the Flyers to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
