Soccer Game Preview: Needville vs. Fort Bend Willowridge

It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Needville take on Fort Bend Willowridge at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Needville's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Brazosport, sneaking past 1-0.

Meanwhile, Fort Bend Willowridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to La Marque. The matchup was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but the Eagles couldn't quite close it out.

Fort Bend Willowridge's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Needville, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Needville beat Fort Bend Willowridge by a goal in their previous matchup back in February, winning 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Needville since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
