Tuscarawas Valley had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They won a contest that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Waynedale Golden Bears 21-20. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Golden Bears: they've now won three in a row.

A big part of Tuscarawas Valley's win came down to the chemistry between Beckam Himes and his top target Brody May. Himes rushed for 31 yards and a pair of TDs while May picked up 121 receiving yards and one score. Those 31 rushing yards gave Himes a new career-high.

Although Waynedale took the loss, they still got scores from Maddox Kidd, Kamden Alberson, and Lane Troyer.

Coming up, Tuscarawas Valley will venture away from home to take on Coshocton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Waynedale, they will host Fairless at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
