Football Recap: Dax Montelongo's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Midlothian Heritage over Terrell + How To Watch

Midlothian Heritage dropped down to 3-3 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 21-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Terrell Tigers. While the Jaguars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tigers 7-0 in the first quarter.

Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dax Montelongo, who threw for 136 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 95 yards on only seven carries. Montelongo's passing game has become a key predictor of Midlothian Heritage's success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Za'Ko Davis was another key player, gaining 122 total yards and a touchdown.

As for Terrell, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.7 points on average this season.

Terrell found their leader in sophomore JULIAN ASHLEY, who rushed for 117 yards and two scores. ASHLEY's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 117 rushing yards.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Midlothian Heritage is set to square off against their familiar foe Crandall at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. Meanwhile, Terrell will face off against rival Ennis at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: ASHLEY and WENDERIUS JONES.
