Baseball Recap: Pittsburg Falls Short of De La Salle in the Playoffs

Pittsburg and De La Salle squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Pittsburg had to settle for second. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (12-5), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this game were averaging 2.76 runs allowed.

Ty Thompson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

The loss snapped Pittsburg's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 19-6 record. As for De La Salle, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season.

Pittsburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for De La Salle, they will challenge Petaluma at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
