Basketball Recap: Mercer Triumphs

On ThursdayMercer's undefeated season almost came to an end. They skirted past the Rocky Grove Orioles 58-56. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Rocky Grove's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Landen Carter, who went 8 of 16 en route to 21 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, and Noah Baughman, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 18 points. Baughman's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Schiffer Anderson was another key player, putting up eight points and six assists.

Mercer pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Rocky Grove, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-1.

Mercer will venture away from home to face off against Sharpsville at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Rocky Grove, they will host Cambridge Springs at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
