The Deming Wildcats will head out on the road to  square off against  the Artesia Bulldogs  at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Deming is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8  runs per game  this season.
While Deming didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victor by  an  11-1 margin over Santa Fe on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wildcats considering their two-run performance the  game before.
The team  relied heavily on  Chris Olvera, who  scored three  runs and  stole  Three bases. while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was  Estevan Mariscal, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 2-for-3.
 Deming was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .423. The last time their  batting average was this high was  back in March of 2024.
 Artesia hadn't beaten Hobbs on the road since February 27, 2020 but that history sure didn't bother them  on Saturday. Artesia sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  4-3  win over Hobbs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  victory the Bulldogs have posted  since April 26, 2024.
 Deming has  been performing  well recently as they've  won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record  this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. Artesia moved to 3-3 with that  win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
 Deming couldn't quite get it done against Artesia in their previous matchup  back in March of 2023 as they fell  8-3. Can Deming avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
