Southern Lee and Hoke County are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Cavaliers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bucks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Southern Lee has struggled recently with eight losses in a row, while Hoke County will arrive with three straight victories.

Last Friday, Southern Lee came up short against Pinecrest and fell 13-8.

Maggie Lucas was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Peyton Varner was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Hoke County narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Richmond 3-2. That's two games straight that the Bucks have won by just one run.

Niya Jones made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

In other batting news, McKenzie Freeman was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Willow Clark also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Hoke County's victory bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Southern Lee, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Southern Lee has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hoke County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
