Baseball Game Preview: Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles vs. Campolindo Cougars

For the second straight game, Clayton Valley Charter will face off against Campolindo. The Ugly Eagles will square off against the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Clayton Valley Charter is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Clayton Valley Charter managed to slip by Campolindo the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Ugly Eagles lost 9-3 to the Cougars on Tuesday.

For Campolindo's part, Colin Rutzen tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Augie Martinez was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Luster, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Campolindo is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Clayton Valley Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 16-7.
