Softball Recap: Presidio Wins Going Away Against Irvin

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Canutillo, Presidio was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They put the hurt on the Irvin Rockets with a sharp 17-2 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Blue Devils considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Kesara Olivas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. The dominant performance gave her a new career-low in hits. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. In other batting news, Kazayra Armendariz was a standout: she went a perfect2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Itzel Galindo, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Presidio always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .897. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Irvin only posted an OBP of .438.

The victory got Presidio back to even at 1-1. As for Irvin, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Presidio will welcome Wink at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Irvin, they will host El Paso at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
