Baseball Recap: North Montgomery's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Five

North Montgomery won the last time they faced Benton Central and things went their way on Friday too. The Chargin' Chargers put the hurt on the Bison with a sharp 13-2 victory. The Chargin' Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Crew Cole was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. Cole was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aiden Ambriz-Cruz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cade Cole, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

North Montgomery always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Benton Central only posted an OBP of .350.

The win (which was North Montgomery's fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Benton Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.

North Montgomery didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-6 defeat against Clinton Prairie on the 10th. As for Benton Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, an 8-7 loss against Kankakee Valley on the 10th.
