Basketball Recap: Brandon Eagles vs. Robinson Knights
The Brandon Eagles struggled with threes on Monday (the Robinson Knights had five more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Brandon had to suffer through a rough 60-22 loss at the hands of the Knights. Brandon has struggled against the Knights recently, as their contest on Monday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Brandon lost, one person who can't be blamed is Julia Castany. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Caserta, who scored six points.
Ava Godfrey continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Robinson, scoring 18 points along with five assists and two steals. Godfrey is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jennie Gutman, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Brandon's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Robinson, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brandon will take on the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Leto has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8. As for Robinson, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Plant City is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home.
