Softball Recap: Halls Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Victory

Halls had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Monday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Knoxville Central Bobcats. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-1 back in March.

Emery Bales spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Makaylie Hutchison was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Halls' victory bumped their record up to 26-4-1. As for Knoxville Central, they moved to 16-4 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Halls and Knoxville Central should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. The Red Devils (ranked seventh) will meet Grace Christian Academy (ranked 90th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Halls 1, the Rams 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Knoxville Central will challenge Morristown-Hamblen East at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (32 vs. 131).
