Baseball Recap: Branson Comes Up Short

Branson had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 8-14 to make it four. They fell 6-3 to the Redwood Giants. If the Bulls were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Giants when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Holden Cane made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Branson is 2-1 when Cane posts three or more hits, but 6-13 otherwise.

As for Redwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games.

On Redwood's side, Jack Gurley looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Gurley posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Sam Gersch was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Miles Harrison, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

While Branson had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
