Baseball Recap: Chilton Takes a Loss

Chilton extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 28 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-8 in the process. They came up short against the Thorndale Bulldogs, falling 16-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-0 on Tuesday.

As for Thorndale, their win was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-3. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 13 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Thorndale's part, Lance Pesl made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave Pesl a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. He is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as he's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Thorndale let Pedro Jimenez and Brenson Beran run wild. Jimenez went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Beran went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave Beran a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gunner Ferguson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs.

Chilton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Thorndale, they will head out to challenge Mumford at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
