Softball Recap: Brookside's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Brookside had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They walked away with a 10-5 victory over the Woodridge Bulldogs.

Markie-Ann Aliff made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off three home runs, six RBI, and one stolen base while going 4-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Khloe Racz, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Trinity Arend was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Brookside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matchups.

Brookside pushed their record up to 10-15 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Woodridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 15 of their last 17 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-21 record this season.

Brookside has already played their next game, a 6-4 win against Wellington on the 16th. Woodridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
