Preview: North Pike Jaguars vs. Brookhaven Panthers
North Pike has been on the road for five straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Brookhaven Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
North Pike suffered their biggest loss since December 5, 2023 on Tuesday. They were the victim of a tough 67-43 loss at the hands of South Jones. North Pike was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-8.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Brookhaven's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 67-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Provine. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jaylen Haliburton, who scored 17 points along with two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamarius Malone, who scored 13 points.
Brookhaven struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
North Pike has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season. As for Brookhaven, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-5.
Things could have been worse for North Pike, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 69-51 loss to Brookhaven when the teams last played on January 9th.
