Football Recap: Hilltop Extends Winning Streak to Three + How To Watch

Hilltop waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They strolled past the Bonita Vista Barons with points to spare, taking the game 28-10. For the Lancers, this counts as revenge for the 24-21 win the Barons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Hilltop got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lajuan Johnson out in front who rushed for 146 yards on only 15 carries. Those 146 rushing yards gave Johnson a new career-high. Seven Tarkington got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Hilltop didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Bonita Vista to a completion percentage of just 50%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from five players: Micah Hopkins, Zach Humphrey, Markus Sapiera, Tre Nichols III, and Julian Moran, who each logged one passes deflected. Hilltop wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 33.3%.

Hilltop didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Tarkington and Moran. Hopkins was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, making seven total tackles (3.0 for loss), and defending one pass.

Hilltop's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Bonita Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
