League recap: Carrera overpowering for Ray in past week

IV Section II league recap: 3/20/13

Alex Carrera was the top pitcher in IV Section II this week, leading Ray. He struck out nine batters this week.

Paul Espinosa Jr. had the hottest bat in the league this week, racking up a .333 average, one home run and four RBIs. Pima went 2-2.

Although the Bearcats gave up only four hits last week, fewest in the league, Fort Thomas leads the league with just 29 allowed all season.

The Roughriders, the league's stolen base leader this season with 48, added to their lead in that category with 25 more steals over the past week.

There were six hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. Leading the pack was Carlos Mesa, who hit 1.000 by going 3-for-3.



Bob Kelly led Duncan to a win on March 14, as he notched 11 strikeouts to beat the Apaches, 14-3. Over five innings of work, he gave up three hits and three runs.

Pat Bejarano drove in five runners as the Wildkats defeated Fort Thomas 14-3 on Thursday. He went 3-for-4 and scored two runs.
