Baseball Recap: Natchitoches Central Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Natchitoches Central had lost three straight, but after bumping their record up to 19-12 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Benton Tigers a 2-0 shutout. The game was the first time the Chiefs have beaten the Tigers on their field since March 16, 2023.

As for Benton, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 27-5-2. The shutout was out of character for they seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in February.

For Benton's part, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kannon Greer, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Coming up, Natchitoches Central will challenge Lakeside at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Benton will be paying especially close attention to the Chiefs' game: after the Chiefs face off against the Warriors, they'll take on Benton again at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
