Baseball Game Preview: Bourbon County Colonels vs. Berea Pirates

The Bourbon County Colonels will head out on the road to square off against the Berea Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bourbon County is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Monday just wasn't the day for Bourbon County's offense. They came up short against Walton-Verona on Monday, falling 8-0.

Meanwhile, Berea didn't have quite enough to beat Williamsburg on Tuesday and fell 12-11. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (ten), the Pirates still had to take the loss.

Nathan Prophitt made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. He also got three hits, which is notable because Berea is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 5-17 otherwise. Jackson Schill also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Bourbon County's defeat dropped their record down to 17-16. As for Berea, their loss dropped their record down to 7-18.

Bourbon County was able to grind out a solid victory over Berea when the teams last played back in March, winning 6-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Colonels since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
