Basketball Recap: Ty Bridges' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Salem over Amite County

Salem was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 31st straight defeat dating back to last season. The match between them and the Amite County Trojans didn't end well, with the Salem Wildcats falling 61-45. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 55-17 back in November.

Salem lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ty Bridges, who posted nine points and five steals. Bridges has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last six times he's played. Jaymen Watler was another key player, putting up seven points along with ten rebounds and six steals.

Salem's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Amite County, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Salem will take on Enterprise in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Amite County and Wesson will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
