Football Recap: Bangs Piles Up the Points Against Colorado

A well-balanced attack led Bangs over Colorado in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Dragons blew the Wolves out of the water with a 56-0 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Dragons had established a 49-point advantage.

Bangs' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jayden Robinson, who rushed for 65 yards and one TD. Robinson was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 65 yards. Another signal caller making a difference was Hunter Withers, who threw for 90 yards and three touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Bangs was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 247 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 198 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Bangs' defense and their eight sacks. It was truly a group effort as Kian Kelly, Rooster Laughlin, and Ryan Alqorum picked up two apiece. Alqorum is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last three games he's played. Bangs got some further help from Cason Tidwell: he made 13 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Bangs now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Colorado, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Bangs and Colorado will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Dragons see the field they'll take on Hico at 7:00 p.m. on October 17. As for Colorado, their break will end when they face Christoval at 7:00 p.m. on October 10.
