Jake Vonderwell made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Michael Pastoria was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Bishop Watterson waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Fighting Scots.
Max Steinbrunner tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ben Burleson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Caiden Holcomb, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs.
Bishop Hartley's loss dropped their record down to 16-5-1. As for Bishop Watterson, their victory bumped their record up to 17-3.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bishop Hartley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438. However, it's not like Bishop Watterson struggles in that department as they've averaged .457. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
