Basketball Game Preview: Saint Mary's Panthers vs. Gahr Gladiators

Saint Mary is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Gahr is on a five-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The two teams will face off at 3:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Saint Mary's knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Gahr likes a good challenge.

Saint Mary's is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Pasadena just ended the team's 11-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell to the Bulldogs 67-63. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Panthers came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 263rd).

Meanwhile, Gahr unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Valencia by a score of 57-55.

Gahr's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Saint Mary's, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 11-1.
