Softball Recap: Lakeland Takes a Loss

Lakeland lost against Riverside back in April of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Chiefs fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 8-7. That's two games in a row now that the Chiefs have lost by just one run.

Riley Arzie was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Olivia Cunningham was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Lakeland has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Riverside, they moved to 3-5 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Lakeland will square off against rival Old Forge at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Riverside is set to take on their familiar foe Mid Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
