Basketball Game Preview: Golden Gate Titans vs. Lely Trojans

The Golden Gate Titans just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Lely Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Golden Gate has now lost 11 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 9.

Golden Gate came up short against Donahue Catholic on Wednesday, falling 54-28. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 534th, while the Shamrocks are ranked 233rd).

Meanwhile, Lely really took it to East Lee County for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-42 victory. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Trojans had established a 20 point advantage.

Golden Gate's loss dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Lely, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.

Golden Gate came up short against Lely in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 41-32. Can Golden Gate avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
