Basketball Recap: Buckeye Comes Up Short

Buckeye suffered their closest defeat since February 8, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of the Avoyelles Mustangs by a score of 53-50. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 37-32 back in November of 2024.

With the loss, Buckeye broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-14. As for Avoyelles, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Buckeye will square off against Plainview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Plainview knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Buckeye likes a good challenge. Avoyelles has already played their next contest (against St. Joseph's - Plaucheville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
