Baseball Recap: Mexico Has No Trouble Against Port Byron

It was a proper cat-fight when Mexico challenged Port Byron on Thursday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 27-1 margin over the Panthers. The game marked the Tigers' most dominant win of the season so far.

Brayden Mack was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs and two RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three).

In other batting news, Carter Robert was a standout: he got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Deegan Blue was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and three RBI.

Mexico kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Mexico's record now sits at 3-1. As for Port Byron, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-2.

Mexico will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
