Softball Recap: Northwestern Comes Up Short

Northwestern came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Spooner Rails, falling 7-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rails this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-2 last Thursday.

Northwestern saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ellie Hanson, who went 1-for-3 with one double. That double was Hanson's first of the season.

Northwestern's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10-1. As for Spooner, they pushed their record up to 16-1 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Northwestern will head out on the road to take on Superior at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Spooner, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Shell Lake at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
