It was fun while it lasted, but Bishop Ludden's undefeated season came to an end after nine games on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 54-53 to the Marcellus Mustangs. The contest marked the Gaelic Knights' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Marcellus' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tucker Burnett, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. That's the most boards Burnett has posted since back in December of 2023. Dom Gosh-Sandy was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Bishop Ludden fell to 9-1. As for Marcellus, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2.

Bishop Ludden and Marcellus should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. Bishop Ludden (ranked fourth) will meet La Salle Institute (ranked 56th) at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Marcellus will take on OnTech at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday up 614 places (46 vs. 660).
