Mt. Pleasant piles up the points against Lewis County

In what's become a running theme this season, the Mt. Pleasant Tigers gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They really took it to Lewis County for the full four quarters, racking up a 78-45 victory at home. Given Mt. Pleasant's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while Lewis County is ranked 355th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mt. Pleasant's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hayden Holt, who scored 21 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ryan Benderman, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Mt. Pleasant's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.1 points per game. As for Lewis County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

Mt. Pleasant will head out on the road to square off against Summertown at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Summertown knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 20 contests -- so hopefully Mt. Pleasant likes a good challenge. As for Lewis County, they will be playing at home against Loretto at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
