Basketball Game Preview: Louisa County Lions vs. Western Albemarle Warriors

The Louisa County Lions will face off against the Western Albemarle Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Louisa County is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

On Saturday, Louisa County was able to grind out a solid victory over William Monroe, taking the game 47-37.

Meanwhile, Western Albemarle won against Salem on Saturday with 46 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. Western Albemarle sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 46-43 win over Salem. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 66th in Virginia, while the Seminoles are ranked 490th in Georgia), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Western Albemarle pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Louisa County, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Louisa County took a serious blow against Western Albemarle when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 74-22. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Louisa County was down 50-8.
