Baseball Recap: Foothills Christian Gets the Win

Foothills Christian won the last time they faced Orange Glen and things went their way on Friday too. The Knights came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 7-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Jr Merino made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. He has become a key player for Foothills Christian: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 11-12 otherwise.

In other batting news, Johannes Jansen Granillo and Jonah Nottoli did most of the damage at the plate: Jansen Granillo got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Nottoli went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Nottoli is becoming a predictor of Foothills Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 10-12 when he doesn't).

Foothills Christian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Orange Glen struck out seven times.

Foothills Christian's record now sits at 14-12. As for Orange Glen, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-13.

Foothills Christian didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-5 victory against Tri-City Christian on the 14th. As for Orange Glen, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 6-5 win against Calvin Christian on the 13th.
