Softball Game Preview: Hixson Wildcats vs. East Hamilton Hurricanes

Hixson hasn't had much luck against East Hamilton recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. Hixson will welcome East Hamilton at 5:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

It was a proper cat-fight when Hixson duked it out with Red Bank on Tuesday. Hixson blew past Red Bank 10-1. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Brantley Bruggink, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Robinson, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, East Hamilton brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Bradley Central a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Hurricanes, who have now won three matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Yulai Woodruff was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in May of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, East Hamilton got a massive performance out of Bailey Poschke, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs Poschke has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sarah Farris, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

East Hamilton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bradley Central only managed one hit.

Hixson's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for East Hamilton, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
