Baseball Recap: Rockwood Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Rockwood extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 7-3 in the process. They came out on top against Fannett Metal by a score of 7-3. For the Rockets, this counts as revenge for the 9-0 win Fannett Metal walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Davis Bruening made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Max Trimpey, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Conner Handwerk was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

As for Fannett Metal, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-3. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly four runs.

On Fannett Metal's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tucker Seibert, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Rockwood wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 11-1 loss against McConnellsburg on the 22nd. As for Fannett Metal, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-2 victory against Shalom Christian Academy on the 21st.
